This file is part of the Object to Coff (O2C) package! ------------------------------------------------------ History ======= Version 0.1 BETA ---------------- - All Turbo Assembler functions will be converted, except the 'group' definitions. Do not use it! - Up to 8192 symbols/externals/publics etc. - Up to 4Mb segmentsizes - Option /? /h - Program is very big, due to pre-allocated data structures - All Turbo assembler files must be compiled with /Zi and /Ml (Zi=debug info, Ml=case sensitive link) Version 0.2 BETA ---------------- - This version converts Object files without debug info now too (no /Zi switch anymore) - The Model option FLAT,C works fine too, so you don't have to add the underscores now Version 0.3 BETA ---------------- - Fixed relative pointer conversion (CALL label/JMP label) Version 0.4 BETA ---------------- - Smaller executable, due to use of linked-lists instead of predefined arrays. - Unlimited symbols/externals/publics etc. Version 0.5 BETA ---------------- - Wildcard supporting, multiple filenames too - Library file (.LIB) conversion support - Binary file to raw data conversion support - Destination file option kicked (filename will now be the same as the original assembler file) - Also removed the automatic .OBJ file extension because of different legal extensions now - Uninitialized data segment (.bss segment) support - It seems to be a bit faster (a bonus in the shareware version -> shorter delay, but irritating delays if you remove some .txt files from the package!) - Better error handling - Fixed a few bugs Version 0.6 BETA ---------------- - Kicked a real nasty bug. I know it sounds strange, but i think the .coff format has been changed a little since djgpp version 2. If your program contains externals in the asm file it did not work correctly, now it does. - Also added the command line option -L, so you can also use case insensitive symbols, that are not tasm'd case insensitive. (actually all symbols will be forced to lower case!) - Added support for all compilers, such as Watcom/Borland C etc.. - Added some other cool options that are probably needed to link Watcom C librarys with your DJGPP program. - All conversions can be done to .A now. This is implemented to prevent a lot of coff files when converting a .LIB file. A temporary directory is created, wherein the coff file(s) are stored. After that the DJGPP utility AR.EXE is used to make one big library file which you can link with your own DJGPP program. - Changed the examples - O2C.EXE is a lot smaller than first because O2C is compiled in DJGPP version 2.7.1. It is faster too... Version 1.0 ----------- - Changed version number from BETA to FINAL one - Changed o2c file to a none-executable, because heuristic virus-scanners are reporting that o2c is infected by an unknown virus. This is really NOT true. I wonder if there is a good solution too this, because all files stubified with 'stubify' have the same effect. You are allowed to stubify o2c yourself! REGISTERED version ------------------ - Free updates for version 0.x and 1.x - No annoying headers in YOUR executable - A small and fast 'Borland C 3.1' version - The ONLY way to make your 'object to coff converted' program commercial - Info about the way I convert the object files (technical specs and so on) - No annoying delay and 'press any key' Known bugs ---------- - None Things to do ------------ - Documentation - Debug info
